Updated: Art? Or Inappropriate?

Update: The bra has been removed from the statue which is shown in the second photograph. I found another one of these on Main street at a company who sells them which is shown in the third photo. Notice that there is a difference in the third photo from the seller. Possibly they make more than one version?

If you have drove down Cypress in the last 2 months you must have noticed this new piece of art displayed on a homeowners front lot. Prior to the bra being put on it a few days ago the boobs and nipples of this piece were very noticeable. I'm assuming the homeowners put the bra on it as a joke or because of complaints. It's located near the corner of Cypress and Waterford about a street width away from a Elementary School Bus pickup spot.

I'm not for or against this. But your welcome to leave comments about what you think.

I did not give you permission to post a photo of my statue on your site.

Remove it or you will be reported to The Internet Explorer.

Report to the Internet Explorer. Now that's funny. The statue is in public view and not protected from being photographed or posted. Nice try.

It's an artistic statement, leave it alone.

Anon 10:03 _ Gee,maybe if you didn't put your artistic views on public display then you would not have a problem :)
Maybe you could use your "artistic" talents and cover her up properly so the kids driving by or going to school don't see her!
Come to think of it ...don't you have a back yard to put her in,that would be more appropriate!Or don't you want to look at her?

I'm going to flip a coin for your little informal poll.....

Heads, ok I guess its art. Seems like porn to me though. But the coin is never wrong.

People really complained huh? It's art, duh. Kids are eventually going to go to museums and see similar works of art. We have more important things to shield our kids from; like drunk people, abusive people, molesters, etc.

How about some "eye candy" for the ladies??? lol

anon 11:41,

If you really are a lady come on over and I'll give you some "eye candy".

I'd like to give that statue a zerbert right between her big ones.

When something is viewable to the public this negates your expectation of privacy. I'm neither for or against the statue because I love art. However your comment made no sense. If you don't want people looking at it put is someplace for you to enjoy and not have to worry about people critiquing it.

Oh for crying out loud! Who hasn't seen a naked breast? If someone is offended by it, don't look at it! It's a statue, not a live stripper!

The statue is feet from a Elementary School Bus Stop. How do you tell a 6 year old not to look? And why should you have to. I can turn off tv. I can't change the bus stop location.

I wish it was a live stripper, that would be awesome. So where exactly is the line. I mean if the live stripper stood really still, could I claim she is a statue and everything is ok? If so I am ordering up one live stripper for my front lawn every morning.

How does seeing a bare breast with a nipple harm a child? The statue is not overtly sexual. It seems the intent is to show beauty. Why is it a bad thing that it is near children? Sure, it may be tacky, and I could see someone in the neighborhood thinking they should say something about it, but just showing a bare breast certainly doesn't make it offensive.

This is not ugly. War is ugly! Remember, you can't hug your child with Nuculear Arms!

Joe the Camel was plastered all over Billboards. Cigarettes can't be purchased by minors so what was the problem with the billboards? Why couldn't the children be told to not look at the billboards like some have suggested in regards to the nude statue. I guess its because children are impressionable. Here is a link to the Art of Joe the Camel.
